The Hollywood Paradigm--a three act
story: set-up, confrontation, and resolution; inciting
incident, turning points, plot points, midpoint,
pitch points, and climax; scene structure: beats,
dramatic arc, shift of power, text & subtext,
conflict; character analysis: conscious goal &
unconscious desire, back story & character flaw;
given circumstances & emotional charge.

(hands-on exercise in groups of 4 during and
outside class hours)

Editing procedures; editing software
operations; basic rules of picture editing: cutting
